Advertiser Terms
The terms for businesses and organisations that pay to feature a job or event, or advertise, on Belayat.
About these terms
These terms are between Twakka Ltd (company number 14001176, 167–169 Great Portland Street, Fifth Floor, London W1W 5PF), which runs Belayat, and the business or organisation that buys advertising ("you"). The person who buys must be allowed to act for it.
Our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines also apply to everything you post and advertise. If these terms and the Terms of Use disagree about advertising, these terms win.
What you can buy
- Featured Job: your job in a reserved, labelled slot for the reach and time you choose, highlighted, and included in the daily jobs email.
- Featured Event: your event in a reserved, labelled slot in Events and in "This weekend" on Home. People who follow you get a notification, and people nearby who have agreed to hear about events may get at most one promotional notification a week.
- Sponsored cards: an advert card for your business in lists for a category and area, for a week at a time.
- Directory Featured: your business at the top of its Directory category.
- Bundles: prepaid credits for several Featured posts, valid for 90 days from purchase.
Rooms and other Housing posts can never be featured or promoted. Paid prominence on rooms rewards scammers, and trust in Housing is what Belayat is for.
Buying
- You buy on belayat.uk only, through Stripe Checkout. The app shows no prices and sells nothing.
- Before you pay, we show the total price you will pay. There are no extra charges added later.
- You pay in full when you order. Stripe handles your card. We never see your full card number.
- Our agreement starts when we confirm your order by email. We send an invoice for every payment.
- Unused bundle credits end 90 days after purchase and are not refunded after that.
Ad review
A person reviews every campaign before it goes live. We aim to finish within 24 hours. We may ask you to change something, or refuse it. We check that it follows these terms, the Community Guidelines and the law.
Some advertisers must give us more first:
- Immigration advisers: your Immigration Advice Authority (formerly OISC) registration number, or proof that you are a solicitor regulated by the SRA.
- Financial services: your Financial Conduct Authority firm reference number (FRN).
- Every business: your legal name, and your Companies House number if you have one.
We do not accept adverts for payday loans, cryptoassets, gambling or dating services.
When your campaign runs
Your campaign’s time starts when it goes live, not when you pay. So a 7-day Featured Job gets 7 full days, however long review takes. We email you when it starts and when it is about to end.
Labels and where ads appear
- Featured posts are labelled "Featured". Advert cards are labelled "Sponsored". Both have a "Why am I seeing this?" link. This follows the UK Advertising Codes (CAP Code), which say advertising must be obviously identifiable.
- Paid placement never changes the order of ordinary results. Your post appears in a reserved slot, and its ordinary place in the results stays the same.
- We limit how many paid items appear: at most 1 Sponsored card for every 8 ordinary results, at most 2 Featured posts at the top of a list and then 1 for every 10 results, and at most 1 Sponsored card on Home.
- There are no adverts in messages, and none on room or other Housing pages.
- Sponsored cards are shown by area and category, not by a profile of the person looking.
No guaranteed results
We place your advert as described, but we cannot promise how many people will see it, click it, message you or apply. Any statistics we show are our best count and may change a little as we correct them.
Your responsibilities
Your advert, and everything it links to, must be true, legal and yours to use. In particular:
- Job adverts must follow the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. Never charge a job seeker. Agencies must give their legal name and say whether the job is temporary or permanent.
- Pay must be at least the National Minimum Wage. Sponsors must never pass on the cost of a Certificate of Sponsorship or the Immigration Skills Charge.
- Adverts must not discriminate, as the Equality Act 2010 forbids.
- Adverts must follow the CAP Code and consumer law, including the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. No misleading claims, no fake urgency, and show total prices.
- Financial promotions must be made or approved by an FCA-authorised firm.
- Immigration advice may be offered only by a registered adviser or a regulated solicitor.
- You must own, or have permission to use, every word, logo and image.
You are responsible for your advert and for the jobs, events and services it offers. If someone makes a legal claim against us because your advert broke the law or these terms, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim.
Removal and refunds
We may pause or remove an advert at any time if it breaks these terms, the Community Guidelines or the law, or if people report it and we need to check it. We will tell you why.
- Refused at review: a full refund.
- Removed by us for our own reasons, for example if we stop offering a product or a fault stops it showing: a refund for the unused days.
- Removed because the advert broke these terms, the Community Guidelines or the law: no refund.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within 14 days of our decision. If you think a refund decision is wrong, email support@belayat.uk.
You can end a campaign early at any time, but unused days are not refunded, except as the law requires.
Personal data
Our Privacy Notice explains how we use the personal data of the people on your account. If people send you their details, for example when applying for a job, you are responsible for that data under data protection law, and you must use it only for the purpose they gave it to you.
We only send you marketing email if you have agreed, or as the law allows for existing customers, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
Apart from that:
- we are not responsible for lost profits, lost business, lost opportunity or any indirect loss
- our total responsibility to you for everything to do with a campaign is limited to the amount you paid for that campaign
If you buy as an individual and not for a business, these limits do not apply to you, and nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel.
Changes to these terms and prices
We may change these terms or our prices. A change does not affect a campaign you have already paid for. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a change to these terms affects future orders.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute. If you buy as an individual living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
