Porter - Auction Rooms

Job Purpose Summary: To support the day-to-day operation of an efficient sales floor across the full auction cycle, with a focus on the safe handling, movement, and organisation of auction items. Working as part of a small team, the Porter plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods through the auction process, from intake and storage through to auction presentation and post-sale collections. The role includes regular manual handling, working to tight deadlines, and supporting both operational and customer-facing activities. The position offers exposure to all aspects of the auction process, with opportunities to develop skills in areas such as photography, cataloguing, and valuation support. Please note: This role includes regular manual handling and lifting; applicants should be comfortable with the physical nature of the work. Job Requirements: Knowledge & Experience Previous experience in a manual handling, warehouse, logistics, or similar environment would be advantageous, but not essential. A general interest in antiques, art, and collectables is desirable. Basic IT literacy and willingness to learn internal systems. Training, Education & Qualifications No formal qualifications required; full training will be provided where necessary. Full UK driving licence required. Skills, Abilities & Personal Qualities Physically capable of manual handling and moving items safely. Strong attention to detail when handling, storing, and moving goods.
